Robert Lehrman has been collecting art since 1979 and has focused primarily on the “art of our times.” Robert & Aimee Lehrman’s collection includes painting and sculpture, which begins with post-pop and consists predominantly of American and European contemporary art. Artists in his collection include Andy Warhol, Ai Weiwei, Damien Hirst, Agnes Martin, Gerhard Richter, David Hammons and considerable depth in the works of Joseph Cornell.
Mr. Lehrman is founder and president of The Voyager Foundation, a nonprofit organization which collaborated with the Smithsonian American Art Museum to produce an award-winning interactive publication, Joseph Cornell: Shadowplay…Eterniday, which has created a new prototype for interactive arts education.
Mr. Lehrman has lectured on contemporary art appreciation at museums, universities, and art schools across America. Robert & Aimee believe that in addition to being personally rewarding, collecting art and supporting art organizations and their related activities is an important civic responsibility. Robert Lehrman is on the Board of Trustees of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, where he was the Chairman of the Board between 1998 and 2003.
