Join ArtTable DC for an informal conversation with Vikki Tobak who is the author of the acclaimed book, "Contact High: A Visual History of Hip Hop."
The book traces 40 years of the history of hip hop through previously unseen work by notable photographers who captured the artists and moments over time. The book features rare outtakes from over 100 photoshoots that include figures such as Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, Wu-Tang Clan, to Tupak Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill and many others, alongside interviews and essays from industry legends. Vikki is a freelance digital and broadcast journalist who lives in Washington, DC with her family. She has served on the board of the Washington Project for the Arts, the Palo Alto Arts Commission and supports other arts organizations in the DMV region.
