Join us for an informal conversation with Monica, Executive Director of Prince Georges African American Museum and Cultural Center.
Monica is an arts + culture innovator using creativity and narrative as a means of bridging the gap between people and movements. As an independent curator, museum consultant and keynote speaker, she uses her platforms to be in service to society. She is co founder and strategic director of Museum Hue a multicultural platform advancing diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives for people of color, in arts, culture, museums and creative economy. Her work with Museum Hue includes career coaching for emerging and established museum professionals, teaching artists and culture workers, executive coaching with arts leaders and museum and university trainings around strengthening diverse career pipelines, cultural sensitivity and moderating panels, mentorathons, and POC led tours and talks. She works internationally to facilitate diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives with clients throughout Europe, Africa and North America.
Monica advocates globally for social justice and relevance embedded in museum practice. She is the founder and curator of Museum of Impact, a mobile social justice museum, having curated 40+ exhibits at the intersection of art, activism + society. Museum of Impact partners with local communities in everyday spaces to decolonize museums. By amplifying social movements, MOI is striving to create a more just, connected, and compassionate society, transforming audiences from bystanders to Upstanders!
