Discover the outdoor sculptures of "No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man" and the Golden Triangle neighborhood during an ArtTable walking tour this fall!
"No Spectators" brings alive the maker culture and creative spirit of Burning Man, transporting the large-scale work from the desert gathering to the nation’s capital. The Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery has expanded beyond its walls for the first time through an outdoor extension produced in partnership with DC’s Golden Triangle Business Improvement District.
"No Spectators: Beyond the Renwick", displays six sculptures from Burning Man throughout the surrounding Golden Triangle neighborhood. Our conversation will be led by the Renwick Gallery’s Lloyd Herman Curator of Craft, Nora Atkinson and the Golden Triangle BID’s Public Space Activation Curator, Karyn Miller, and Senior Director of Planning and Policy, David Suls. We’ll explore works by artists Jack Champion, Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson, HYBYCOZO, Laura Kimpton with Jeff Schomberg, Mischell Riley, and Kate Raudenbush.
After the tour, our group will gather for a happy hour to continue the discussion- dutch treat. Tour begins at 5:30pm and lasts for one hour, meet on the steps of the Renwick Gallery. We recommend comfortable walking shoes, and you can preview the map of locations at this link.
Thank you to Karyn Miller, Golden Triangle BID, for organizing this event with ArtTable.
