Our Conversation:

  • Nicole’s background

    • Interested in combining passion for working with artists with her degree in design.

    • Through working with Hamiltonian, Nicole became more interested in professional development of artists, and helping with career mapping. This led her to move into running Hamiltonian’s fellowship.

  • Halcyon Arts Lab

    • Halcyon aims to empower emerging creatives, who are innovative and risk takers

    • Halcyon also wants to become a hub and a catalyst for the arts in D.C.

  • Halcyon’s Fellowship

    • The Fellowship consists of a 9 month residency for 6 D.C. based or international artists. It focuses on mentorship, and collaboration between entrepreneurs and artists. The current fellows range in disciplines, and represent “a diversity of medium.”

    • Fellows have a safe environment to experiment and create, with fellow Georgia Saxelby stating that the fellows “have the perfect amount of rebelliousness in the art world.”
